Rare Ships!!! on Ice

Skating's hard on the knees, and alas, it's time for Rare Ships!!! on Ice to retire. Thank you everyone for making this event such a blast for the past three years! I've had a great time, and I hope you have too.

If anyone would like to make a successor event, you have my enthusiastic blessing, and I'd be happy to link to it here and on the RSOI tumblr :)

And since I originally socked up for this because I was nervous about wank in a big fandom, but have not actually encountered any wank... I'll sign off properly. See you around!

Some reminders:

• Works will be anonymous for one week! I'll reveal creators next Sunday, July 21 at 8 p.m. In the meantime, keep it secret, keep it safe.
  
• Re-date your work so it shows up in the right spot in the fandom tags!
  
• Commenting on your gift(s) is nice exchange etiquette, and is required for RSOI. See the rules post for details.
  
• If there's something wrong with your gift (meaning, it violates a DNW; doesn't meet the exchange minimum; or doesn't fit one of your requested ships or mediums) please email me ASAP at rareshipsonice@gmail.com.

Just like previous years, I will be posting round-up link posts for each ship to the exchange tumblr over the course of the anon period for a bit of extra signal boosting :)

Works are due this Sunday, July 7, at 8 p.m. PDT. The collection will briefly close at that point so I can check for placeholders and incomplete assignments -- then it will reopen so treaters and pinch hitters can continue posting :)

Other Notes:

• Do not repost your work elsewhere (e.g. on tumblr, twitter, public forums) before creator reveals.
  
• You can edit your work after posting it.
  
• A saved draft does not count as a posted work. Make sure you have actually posted your work by the deadline.

While you can edit your work after posting, please have a complete work up by the deadline. You can be waiting on a final proofread or touch-up, but I'll be checking for obvious placeholders and gifts that don't meet the exchange minimum requirements.

Congrats to those who've posted already! If you're looking for something to do next, consider finding someone to treat, or keep an eye out for any post-deadline pinch hits.

Your assignment is due on Sunday, July 7 at 8 p.m. PDT. By that point, you need to complete and post a work in one of your recipient's requested mediums for one of their requested ships.

Review the Exchange Info post for the minimum work requirements, how to post, and how to default. If for any reason you're unable to complete your assignment, please default on AO3 as soon as you know.

Nominations are closed! Congrats everyone on finding a few more ships to add.

Signups are scheduled to open May 10. They'll likely open a bit early, as usual, depending on when I get a chance to double-check everything.

Nominations are open now through Monday, May 6 at 8 p.m. PDT.

Once again, we're doing nominations on easy mode. I already batch-loaded the entire tag set from last year into the new tag set. This means all ships from last year's set are in. Feel free to get creative filling out your nominations ;)

The Basics

The tagset is here. The nominations form is here.

How to nominate, in three easy steps:

1. In the "Fandom" box, input "Yuri!!! on Ice (Anime)".
   
2. In the relationships boxes, input the relationships you want available in the tagset. You don't have to fill out all 10 slots. (You can also fill out some now, and come back later to fill out more!)
   
3. Press submit!

Because the tagset can get hard to read, I have a clearer, alphabetical spreadsheet of accepted ships here. I'll update it periodically throughout nominations.

The RSOI 2018 AO3 collection will be open indefinitely. If you're inspired, you're welcome to submit late gifts to the collection.

Most importantly, thank you, everyone! I had a blast running RSOI again, and that is entirely thanks to all of you. I was prepared for a smaller, slower event this year, considering how long it's been since the show came out. I was not prepared for our 25-person participant pool to result in 55 new rare ship works. Seeing the treats flood in over the final week made me so happy.

And I'm still not over the complete lack of pinch hits -- though I know there were people waiting in the wings to snap them up if there were any! Congrats, everyone, and thank you again!

All assignments are in! Again, I'm amazed we didn't have any pinch hits the entire exchange. You all seriously rock. We're set for the collection to open on time -- that's Sunday, July 15, at 8 p.m. PDT.

Once I reveal the collection, all works will be visible and anonymous. They will also show up in the main fandom and ship tags according to the date you posted the work. The YOI tag moves fast, which means it's likely people not following the exchange won't see it... luckily, there's a solution for that:

Remember to re-date your work!

1. After reveals, go to the work's "Edit Work" page
   
2. Scroll down to the "Associations" section
   
3. Click the checkbox for "Set a different publication date"
   
4. Set it to the current date

This will bump the work up to the top of the tags, so YOI fans outside the exchange are more likely to see it! You can do this either at work reveals on July 15, or creator reveals on July 22, or really at any point. (Generally speaking, exchange etiquette is to only redate once or twice.)

Comment replies are safely anonymous
If you reply to comments on your work, your replies will show up as "Anonymous Creator" Yes, even though it doesn't say so before you press submit. Those comments will automatically switch to your name after creator reveals on July 22 :)

Treating continues!
If you have some time and want to increase the number of gifts we're looking forward to, consider creating an extra treat! You can browse all the requests here. You are welcome to give treats at any time, before or after reveals.

"I'll Be Away" Post
If you know you'll be away from the internet for a while after reveals, and want to let your gifter know your comment will be delayed due to vacation/having a baby/crying about your thesis/prepping for your annual dark demonic ritual summoning/traveling to a work conference -- you can comment on this post to say so. Please note your AO3 name if it's different from the account you use here.

Basically, this is for "I'll be gone for a week or more" stuff, not "I'm asleep during reveals and at work the next day." It's also optional, either way.
